Ian had to work Friday night midnight-8:30am with the plan to come home go to sleep and get up around lunch. He goes to bed around 10am.
I look outside and see a doggie running lose without it's owner!
There are 3 streets to our neighborhood. The street in front of the street I live on is Airways! Which is an extremely busy street in Southaven/Memphis. So I knew the dog could be in danger if he continued to run free. I open the door and he immediatly ran to me and allowed me to pet him so I knew he was friendly. Buddy is inside going CRAZY wanting to play. I try to let him inside the house so I could wake Ian up so we could figure out what to do with him b/c he didn't have his name or owner on his tag. As I'm trying to let him in his collar falls off his neck he runs off and Buddy runs off after him! (oh and I was on the phone with my mother!) So I hang up with her and chase after Buddy. Buddy knew he was in trouble so everytime I ran after him he would run and the other dog would run futher so Buddy ran futher. I finally caught Buddy about 4 houses down and had to carry his heavy bootie back to the house. The other dog followed us back. I put Buddy in the house and then pick up my cellphone which was still outside to call my house to wake Ian. (b/c I tried screaming at him and he wouldn't wake up!) He didn't answer. I call his cell phone. He didn't answer. So I just let the dog in the house and then wake him up. "I heard Buddy acting crazy but didn't know what it was!" Pleeeease! Getting up never crossed your mind? *rolleyes*
Anyways the dog had an animal clinic tag on so we call them and get the house number for the dog. It was right down the street. No one is home so we ask the neighbor. "she works night shift but I didn't know she had a dog" The other next door neighbor said yes that's her dog but we just put the dog back this morning. We tried to wake the owner up but it didn't work. We knew we didn't want to put the dog back in the yard b/c apparently he had figured a way out. We walked to the fence and saw a huge hole that he had dug out. So we carry him back to our house and him and Buddy had a huge time playing!
He was so sweet and snuggly so we knew she took care of him.
We walked back down and left a note on her door to call us. She did around 12. (2 hours after we found him) So we took him back she was hungover and didn't remember letting him out the last night.
Anyways that was the excitment for our house that day. And it wore poor Buddy out! He slept all day!
Here is sweet Smokey! He's a pit bull mix.
