Last week my brother-in-law's 1st cousin was in a motorcycle accident and killed. His wife had just gotten home from work and he was on his way out the door, he kissed her good-bye, said he loved her, and then was on his way. He was killed 2 miles from his house. He would have been 32 the next day. I had only met the guy a couple of times but this speaks to me so much. He was such a good Christian man and had touched so many peoples lives. I hope people can say such awesome things about me like they said about him!
I'm 28 and Ian is 34, are we prepared for something like that? Apparently they weren't, as they were asking for donations for the funeral expenses. I do have some life insurance through my work and my parents have a small policy on me and my sister but I know it's not enough. It's so scary to think that we can wake up tomorrow and our spouse is not there. This also caused me to talk to my husband about our wants. Where do we want to be buried? How do you feel about life support? Do you want an open casket?
It just seems like I'm not old enough to have to think about something like this yet sadly I am. It can happen to anyone in a blink of an eye and it scares the bejeezus out of me! So I encourage all of you to think about this and discuss this with your spouse if you haven't already. ;)
Also I'm currently working on our Christmas cards for this year. If you would like one let me know, most of you are on my myspace or facebook page and can send your address through there. ;)

Sorry about your family member. That is young. I think you are being smart thinking about things like that. I am about to start working on a "death packet" myself with all the info in it needed if something happens to us. Policies, accts, stuff. And I'm 28 too. I even plan to put extra wide doors in our house we build in a couple of years in case one of us has to be in a wheelchair. I really overthink sometimes.
